The following is a list of simple sayings that we come across in our day to day life but there is a lot of truth attached to these sayings.

a)Free advices are of no value. Refrain from giving/taking them.

b)You reap what you sow. I am happy about this and I hope everyone reaps what they sow :-)

c)Fair players always win. Values take people far.And this is NO understatement .It IS meant to be taken seriously.

d)Good things in life don’t come easily.Things that come easily don’t last long.

e)Hard work ALWAYS pays off and pays off well. There are no exceptions to this rule. There is nothing called luck.

f)Have lot of acquaintances but chosen few friends.

g)Make hay while the sun shines. (Corporate Equivalent : Make money while the market is good. ;)

h)Never take things for granted….your name, your pay check, your work , the little appreciations that you get, and everything else…

m) Last but not the least, all that happens, happens for the good. There are no exceptions to this rule also.

While most of the above has been said by great people, there is another saying by a  great person, which is : “Stop being self centred. When you only talk about yourself, you end up boring the rest”.

Khatta Palak (Chukka Koora) Pacchadi

  • September 7, 2009 7:59 pm
One of my favorite pass time activities these days is to try out new recipes and keep testing them out on myself and hubby. ;) This particular dish is a hot favourite in our house and my hubby who actually dislikes greens, has totally fallen in love with it’s taste. :-) ….so much so, that whenever I ask him what special do I make for you, he instantly tells me “Khatta Palak!” . I must add here that nothing can be more satisfying than seeing your loved one relish your food. :-) . Posting the recipe right away…Do lemme know how it turns out… BTW I got to know of the recipe from a website hosted by Sailu. Here is the link.

Prep & Cooking: 15 mts

Serves 3-4 persons

Cuisine: Andhra

Ingredients:3 big bunches chukka kura (greens), washed and chopped fine

3-4 green chillis (adjust)

2 tsps cumin seeds

3-4 garlic cloves

For seasoning:

1/2 tsp mustard seeds

1/2 tsp cumin seeds (optional)

1 tsp split black gram dal (urad dal)

1 tsp channa dal – optional

1-2 dry red chillis

few fresh curry leaves

1 tsp oil

1 Heat one tsp oil in a pan, add green chillis and fry on medium heat for 3-4 mts. Remove from pan and cool.
2 In the same pan, add the chopped greens (drizzle some oil if necessary) and saute for approx 5 mts or till the leaves wilt and rawness disappears. Turn off heat and cool.
3 First grind the cumin seeds, garlic and sauted green chillis till almost coarse. Add this ground mixture and to the stir fried greens along with salt and combine well till it appears like a paste. (you can use your hands)
4 Heat oil in pan for seasoning. Add the mustard seeds and let them splutter. Next add the cumin seeds, urad dal and channa dal and let them turn red, followed by the curry leaves and red chillis. Stir for a few seconds and turn off heat. Pour over the chutney and combine. Serve with hot rice, a dollop of ghee and chopped raw onions.
