TATA INDICOM SUCKS!!

This is a post that was long time pending…and now the time has come for me to give you an insight into how sick the company is. I will straight away come to the point without wasting much of an effort into typing how sick TATA is:

a) Funny customer care : Makes you laugh like anything with the kind of ignorance they display.
Some examples : This is the conversation that I had a few months back with the customer care :

Tata’s Customer Care: Hello , how may I help you.?

Me : Hi, I have a problem with the network coverage. Do you plan to install boosters in this area?

Tata’s Customer Care: Sure ma’m. Can I have ur telephone number please?

Me : Yep…it is XXXXXXXXX . Can you help me now please?

Tata’s Customer Care: Sure mam. Is this phone registered under ‘XYZ’s” name?

Me : Yes

Tata’s Customer Care: Thanks mam. Am I talking to XYZ.?

Me : YESSSSSSSSSS!! Any more details?

Tata’s Customer Care:Can I have your address please?

Me : Y?

Tata’s Customer Care: security reasons.

Me : Eh?? ok ok..my address is , blah , blah, blah…

Tata’s Customer Care(satisfied that I am no criminal) : Ok, mam..so watz the problem?

Me : Aaaaaaaaaaahhhh…I thought I already mentioned it…

Tata’s Customer Care: Sure mam(I keep wondering y these people keep telling so many ‘sure’s when they arent sure about anything.) Can yu repeat it please…?

Me : Yes..(I repeat the problem).

Tata’s Customer Care: Thanks madam . I am very sorry to tell you that we do not have plans of
installing boosters anywhere.

Me : Bad!! Then why on earth do you keep advertising Tata with ‘network’ as a strength?

Tata’s Customer Care: I understand madam , but I cannot do anything. (As though I expected him to go and do the installation).

Me : When I say , “you” , I refer to Tata Indicom and not you in person, because you represent Tata , right.

Tata’s Customer Care: (giggles) Yes , madam. Is there anything else that I can assist you with?

Me : Yes , please. A couple of weeks back I lodged a complaint with you regarding the poor signal strength of TATA in my company.You havent updated me with the status yet.

Tata’s Customer Care: Yes madam , I see that you have registered a complaint..But we couldnt get back to you ,because we couldnt reach you on your mobile.

Me(Frustrated this time) : How do you think you will be able to ? That is why I registered a complaint.

Tata’s Customer Care :( giggles) Correct madam!! Sorry bout that. Is there anything else I can assist you with.?

Me : No thanks. You have assisted me enough.!!

Tata’s Customer Care(Did not understand the sarcasm behind my voice): Thanks madam! Have a good day!!

Me : hmmmm…I hang up even before he completed what he said..

Second Instance :

I get a call form the TATA customer care at 7 in the morning , and that too on a weekend:

Tata’s Customer Care: : Hello madam , good morning , am I talking to XYZ?

Me (Half asleep): Yes .Who is this?

Tata’s Customer Care: Tata Indicom

Me (mentally prepared to be tortured by their sick behaviour. (Did my day have to start like this? :( ))..Yeahhhhhhhh…tell me

Tata’s Customer Care: Your billing due date is over madam. Can you pay the bill?

Me : Thanks for reminding . I shall pay by cheque. You accept cheque payments , rite?

Tata’s Customer Care: Yes madam.

Me : Ok…But I heard Tata Indicom misplaces cheques. How far is this true?

Tata’s Customer Care(giggling): It is true mam. Why dont you pay by cash?

Me (Unable to believe what I heard) : WHHHHAAATTT????!!!!

These are the few incidents amongst many others that actually make TATA INDICOM a laughing stock.

Poor network coverage , poor signal strength , inexperienced customer care , user unfriendly system , dull automated voices ,and faulty billing procedures is what tata is all about.

On top of it , I was given an instrument from Tata , telling me that I dont have to pay a single paisa for it. This was an LG 5235 ..(an instrument as bad as the connection). Since I was promised that it is totally free , I went ahead and got myself one. Their tarrif seemed not so bad too..250 mins of STD free, with a rental of 499 Rs for the first 2 years , with the other attractions. It seemed nice , considering that I was getting the instrument free of cost. However trouble began after 3 months of using the phone. My first 250 calls started being charged. Seeing my bill drove the hell outta me. I decieded to go on a strike. Called up Tata’s Customer Care to find out what went wrong.On being explained what had happened , the Tata’s Customer Care person told me that they dont have that plan anymore. I said even if they chose to get away with that plan , they should do so for new customers ,and not the existing ones , especially after they have been promised that there wouldnt be a change in the
tarrif for 2 full years. But this fellow did not understand my point ,may be because he did not want to. :)

Frustrated, I called up the Tata’s Customer Care number again and said I dint want their connection anymore.Now they gave me a different shock altogether. They said I can get it disconnected only after I return their instrument,I said thatz fine with me and was ready to give away their instrument.But they said they would take back the instrument only if I paid them an amount of 2500 Rs.I was like , “WHAT???!!!!” .On being questioned as to why I had to pay the amount when the instrument was promised to be free,they tried explaining me new rules. They said it is free only if you stick to the connection for 2 full years.(They expect you to stick to the connection even if they comfortably change their tarrifs without letting their customers know of it).

Ahhhhhhhhh…WHAT THE HELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Infact they also added that I should either pay 2500 Rs. to return the instrument or pay 10000 Rs. to keep the sick instrument with me.I did not know how to react to this. So I just hung up the phone.

Ladies and gentlemen , thatz TATA for you.

From all the bad experiences that I had with TATA INDICOM , I would like to tell the people who are planning to go in for a new TATA INDICOM connection , to better stay away from it. And for the existing customers , I would just like to say one thing : It is high time you said tata to “TATA”. :)
